Unlike most mobile browsers, Opera Mini (the client) receives its web pages through a proxy server hosted by Opera Software. These proxy servers will take care of rendering the page, adapting it to the screen format, and resizing the images. The page is sent to the client in the OBML markup language (Opera Binary Markup Language).

Two navigation modes are available:
