For the more than 100 million Americans who suffer from chronic pain, you can now get pain relief at your fingertips.

Does this sound too good to be true?  I get it.  It can’t be that easy, right?

Wrong.  It is that easy and there is clinical proof that it provides long-term relief without drugs, surgeries or physical therapy.

If you have suffered from pain, you have most likely tried any number of things ranging from over-the-counter pain relievers to surgery.  You probably feel helpless and that nothing will ever give you the relief that you seek.

You have experienced limits in your life.  Your attention and energy are directed at whatever you can do to deal with the pain, which is holding you back from putting your attention and energy toward the things that you want to do – that give you fulfillment and joy.

You may be experiencing one or all of the following:

  • Depression
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Low energy levels
  • An inability to sleep well

Conventional medicine has fallen short of providing real, long-lasting solutions for you and you may be feeling resigned that this is just the way it is, and you will have to make the best of it and live with it.

The reason why conventional doctors don’t have long-term solutions that work to relieve pain is because they have a gap in their understanding of physical pain.  What they miss is the understanding that our emotions play a primary role – whether they are conscious or unconscious – in our physical health AND in the pain in our bodies.

Woman holding her neck that is in pain.Have you ever felt a negative emotion – such as fear, anger, sadness or grief?  Negative emotions create a stress response in your body.  Everyday life creates stressors.  You may feel like there is never enough time to get everything done.  Therefore, you are constantly afraid of the consequences of forgetting something or not “getting around to it”.  Sometimes if you don’t’ finish everything on your list, whether it is personal or work-related, there may be consequences that cost more money, or disappoints someone or makes you beat up on yourself for not being “good enough” or “capable enough” or you may feel like “something is wrong with me” because you can’t get it all done.

But life events that generate negative emotions can also cause physical symptoms such as pain.

Woman in tearsMaybe you went through a difficult divorce years ago.  You may have experienced anger, sadness, and a host of other emotions.  You know it needed to happen and you are better off as a result, and now you feel like you are over it.

But during those trying times, your subconscious mind buried some very strong emotions without you realizing it, because that’s what the subconscious mind does – it takes over without us knowing about it.

Whether the emotions are from daily stressors or long-past life struggles, those repressed emotions cause tension in certain parts of your body such as your shoulders, neck, back or hips AND limit oxygen supply to your muscles.  That reduced oxygen supply leads to muscle constriction, which spreads to nearby muscles.  Over time, unless those muscles relax, you experience pain.

This constant stress is like holding a glass of water in your arm that is outstretched from your shoulder.  You can hold onto it for a minute or two, no problem.  Hold onto it for 5 minutes and your arm starts to feel uncomfortable – the muscles are straining.  Hold onto it for 30 minutes and your muscles get really fatigued and start to hurt.  Hold onto it for an hour and you may need medical care.  This is what our bodies do with the constant levels of stress we experience.

You may have a lingering pain from an injury and wonder how can emotions be related to it?

Injuries occur a variety of different ways from automobile accidents to sports, to home project accidents.  Regardless, there are emotions associated with it and the negative ones cause stress.

Man holding his head in his hands with a wrecked car in the background.Let’s say you had an automobile accident.  You likely experienced fear, anger, sadness or feel hurt that it happened at the time.  Later on, there may be feelings of embarrassment about what happened, fear of the pain from your injury not going away or anger towards the person that caused the accident.  When you recall the different aspects of the accident and the emotions associated with them, can you feel the effects somewhere in your body?  This is why emotions play such a huge role in locking in the physical pain of an accident.

Most of us have experienced automobile accidents in our lives.  But the physical pain you are experiencing may be around a number of different events that have happened in your past or around one particularly traumatizing event.  Everyone is different and everyone reacts differently to the variety of situations we find ourselves in.

In short, stress is based on our ancient ancestors’ need to survive life and death threats and traumas.  Fear and other emotions are associated with them.  In modern times most of us are not threatened in this way but any experience that is unexpected, shocking or surprising, that makes us feel limited or helpless in some way, and results in a negative emotional reaction, is traumatic and causes stress.  You hold onto stress long enough and it can result in chronic pain.

You may ask, what is this fingertip solution?

Have you heard about EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) also known as Tapping?  It is a combination of Ancient Chinese Acupressure (acupuncture without needles) and Modern Psychology.  It involves “tapping” on certain meridian points on your body while making certain statements.  In this case, usually about the pain or the divorce, or accident – whatever the emotional roots to the pain is.

Because EFT/Tapping sends calming signals to the part of the brain that prompts our body’s stress response, the amygdala, it is a powerful stress reduction technique.  It can help to reduce the intensity of your daily emotional stress.  When you use EFT/Tapping on a specific experience it targets the exact emotional reactions of the event and neutralizes them.  As a result, the subconscious mind is no longer holding onto the negative emotions and the physical symptoms that were related to them fade away.  Your muscles relax and the pain is reduced.  This is a solution that gets long-term results!

Over 100 clinical studies and peer reviewed papers have been done on EFT/Tapping.  In one double-blind study, conducted by Dawson Church, Ph.D., Tapping results showed an average 24 percent drop in cortisol after just one hour of EFT/Tapping.  Participants in the talk therapy group for the same hour, without tapping, showed a much smaller drop in cortisol levels.

Increasing endorphin levels in the body help to provide pain relief.  Acupuncture and potentially acupressure help to increase endorphin levels.  Therefore, EFT/Tapping, which uses acupressure, not only lowers cortisol, as mentioned above, but helps to release endorphins that then relieve pain.  That is why you literally get pain relief at your fingertips!

Ancient Chinese medicine identified the body’s meridian channels hundreds of years ago.  In the 1962, modern science found a way to actually see them with steromicroscope and electron microscope images.

Meridians shown on white plastic figurine. The meridian channels are tubular structures measuring 30 to 100 micrometers wide and run up and down the body in a fiber-optic style network.  They create an energetic network that is different than our nervous system in the body.  By accessing these channels while processing negative emotions, thoughts and beliefs, as well as physical conditions like pain, EFT/Tapping is able to get to the root of chronic pain more quickly than other methods.

Because EFT/Tapping sends calming signals to the amygdala in the brain, it helps to neutralize what it thought was a threat to your survival.  Once the threat is gone there is no need to be stressed and you can begin to think differently about any given life experience.  This literally reprograms your brain.  This helps to support more positive experiences such as pain relief, pleasure and relaxation.

EFT/Tapping is being used worldwide by health and wellness professionals and individuals.  Evidence based research is ongoing and the results are astounding.  Clinical research studies are showing results in multiple areas such as relief from chronic pain, addictions, phobias, emotional problems, grief and loss, PTSD, athletic performance, relationship struggles, self-confidence, weight loss and more.

Dr. Joseph Mercola, founder of the world’s largest natural health website states:

“Nothing comes closer to ‘magic’ than the positive results I have personally witnessed using EFT on thousands of my patients who suffered from physical and emotional pain and illness.  EFT can lead you to incredible breakthroughs on your healing journey, and it can help you in your daily life.”
